I have Mac Pro, with OS X 10.9.4 (cant upgrade to Yosemite yet), and Im trying to build vim7.4 with gui-support, or get any kind of gui-support. I’d like to know thoughts on this as well, but I say we shouldn’t do it, at least not for now. There’re also more pressing features to think of, right now (like implementing uninstall, and finding the best way to take care of #142). How to Uninstall Homebrew on Mac Now that you know how to install Brew on Mac, you might want to know how to uninstall it, in case you don’t need it anymore. With these other apps we’re linking a CLI tool, and the people who need this will most likely know how to get them, we’d just be facilitating it (which is somehow the point of homebrew-cask, but not exactly in this manner). Getting back to Alfred, I feel that one is justified also because you’re running a one-time command, that many users may not know how to do on their own. On one side, we’d want this to be a simple process, but on the other hand, we don’t want to cater to every little thing in every app, and these should really be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. That’s starting to become fairly complex, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. So running brew cask tasks alfred sublime-text, for example, would perform the specific tasks for those. Running /usr/local/bin/vim by hand should show the correct Vim installed. In general, youll want command -v vim to show /usr/local/bin/vim. Maybe the solution would be to have a “master command” (let’s call it “tasks”) that’d have access to all of these options. If your PATH environment variable is set correctly, its possible you may also have to run brew link vim (or brew link macvim) to create the appropriate symlinks. ctags: illegal option - R usage: ctags -BFadtuwvx -f tagsfile file. In MacVim when I do Tools>Build Tags File I get::ctags -R. I also installed oh-my-zsh (if that helps solve this problem). once that was installed I installed janus. One solution would be to have separate commands (like brew cask alfred), but then we’d have a ton of them for each cask (Alfred is somewhat justified, among other reasons, because of its popularity and of how one of its core useful features is tied to installed apps). I installed macvim using homebrew on my Mackbook Pro (lion). Having specific options inside the casks themselves is something we’ve been trying to avoid, and I still think that’s how it should be. What happened (include command output) Attempt to install with lua/luajit brew install macvim -with-lua -with-override-system-vim -with-luajit >. I’m not sure how (or if) we should cater to these apps, though. What you were trying to do (and why) Attempting to install macvim so I can edit files. It’s a good point, since some commercial applications (like Sublime Text) have CLI tools, and these apps are not in homebrew. ![]()
